Purpose

Roughly 20% of Americans (well over 48 million) have some degree of hearing loss. The TPA Hearing Trust wants to make sure they are getting the help they need and the respect they deserve.

Financial Criteria

The selection of recipients and amount of aid awarded is decided upon by the majority of the Trustees, and special consideration is given to individuals with the greatest need.

Eligibility

Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, or the families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

AT Services Provided/Covered

Includes specialized medical or treatments, speech classes, note-takers, interpreters, and more.

AT Devices Provided/Covered

Includes hearing devices and mechanical devices.

Application Process

Completed applications must be submitted to the Trust by the end of each quarter: March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31. Download the application from the TPA website. A Medical Certification of hearing loss by a physician is required.

Pieces of the Puzzle

  • Financial aid grants generally range from $100 to $1,000 with an average of $800 for hearing aids.
  • Recipients may only receive aid once a year and must complete a new application each time they seek assistance.
