Lots of Learning: Spring Conference Season is Here!
Spring is conference season, and that includes several accessibility-focused conferences.
One of the largest in the world is the California State University at Northridge Conference on Persons with Disabilities in San Diego, CA. This takes place March 21-26. Traditionally referred to as just “CSUN”, the conference brings around 5000 participants from all over the world. CSUN also has a huge exhibition space with assistive technology and accessibility vendors at every turn. Read about the 2016 CSUN conference here.
Closer to home is AccessU, a teaching conference in Austin, TX hosted by Knowbility. It is May 9-11. The travel is sure cheaper, and better yet they offer a remote conference as well. You can stream it to your computer individually or buy a group room and make an event out of it. Look for information about the Summit coming pretty soon. Keep up with that and the on-site conference here.
Spring conferences are happening around Oklahoma as well. ABLE Tech presents sessions on technology accessibility at the following conferences this spring:
- The above-mentioned CSUN, March 24
- Oklahoma AHEAD Spring Institute, April 7-8, Bethany, OK
- Oklahoma Quality Summit, April 8, Broken Arrow, OK
- Missouri Power Up to the Summit, April 17-19, near St. Louis, MO
- (Tentative) Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education CoIT Summit, May 18-19, Oklahoma City, OK
Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs Accessibility Webcast Series
ABLE Tech is pleased to be the provider of training and technical assistance to its peer Assisitve Technology Act Programs across the country. As part of those efforts, ABLE Tech produces a series of webcasts. Each webcast covers a different angle of technology accessibility. Webcasts are published to the national Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs webinar website. There you will also find previous webinars from other Programs on many topics around technology accessibility.
If you happen to head to any of those conferences then let me know if you would like to connect there. And I hope that one of the in-state offerings is close enough that you can make it!
