Accommodations and AT for Dyslexia with Tiffany Jenkins, CALT
According to the International Dyslexia Association, Dyslexia is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede the growth of vocabulary and background knowledge. With appropriate intervention, students with dyslexia may be able to improve their reading skills. In the meantime, Assistive Technology can help these children to keep up with grade-level content and succeed in school. In this webinar, Tiffany Jenkins, Certified Academic Language Therapist, will discuss a variety of tools which have been shown to help struggling readers. Jenkins is a parent of a child with dyslexia and also serves on the State Dyslexia Task Force, which is working to improve educational opportunities for Oklahoma students.
