How Device Reutilization Works

Oklahoma ABLE Tech’s Device Reutilization Program staff retrieves donated devices and works with vendors to repair equipment to ensure peak performance. All donated durable medical equipment (DME) is sanitized, refurbished, and reassigned to the best-matched Oklahoman. Donations are tax-deductible (tax receipts are available upon request).

What Type of Equipment is Accepted?

Oklahoma ABLE Tech accepts gently used assistive technology (AT) and DME. Examples of AT, DME, and supplies accepted that are in common need:

• Wheelchairs
• Walkers
• CPAPs/BiPAPs
• Blood pressure monitors
• Braces
• Slings
• Vision aids/magnifiers/CCTVs
• Adult diapers (pull-ups are commonly in demand)
• Grab bars  
• Shower chairs

Please note – The Device Reutilization Program cannot accept donations of:

• Liquids
• Meal replacements
• Sharps (needles, syringes, blades of any kind, etc.)
• Medications
• Mattresses/Pillows
• Oxygen and/or oxygen-related items (tanks, portable concentrators, tubing, etc.)
• Hearing aids
  • Hearing aids received will be donated to a local hearing aid vendor for repurposing.
• Heavily used or damaged equipment

How Do I Donate Equipment?

Once submitted, an Oklahoma ABLE Tech staff member will contact you to make arrangements for drop off OR provide an available pick-up time.

Walk-in Donations

Walk-in donations are accepted by appointment at the Oklahoma ABLE Tech Device Reutilization Program office.

Once a donation form has been submitted and your donation has been reviewed and approved by a team member, coordination of drop-off can be at any of the following locations.

How Do I Make a Monetary Gift?

Your monetary gift supports our ongoing efforts to sustain the DME inventory for the Oklahoma ABLE Tech Device Reutilization Program.

Donations to ABLE Tech are tax-exempt by virtue of our affiliation with the OSU Foundation. Due to this affiliation, our program is exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. You will receive a receipt for your donation from the Foundation, and your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. 

IMPORTANT: Please choose the OSU Wellness Department Unrestricted Fund (34-67750) with Oklahoma ABLE Tech added in the Notes section. This ensures any donated funds are allocated to the correct account.
