Device Reutilization

We want to give gently-used Durable Medical Equipment (DME) a second life.

ABLE Tech staff retrieves donated equipment; sanitizes and refurbishes devices; works with vendors to repair the equipment if needed; and reassigns DME devices to the best-matched Oklahoman. Any Oklahoman who is in need of medical equipment or devices, regardless of income, is eligible for the program. Priority will be given to SoonerCare members.

100% Donation Based Program

This program is 100% donation-based — which means without community contribution, we don't have a robust inventory! Now is the time to schedule a DME pick-up or drop-off OR make a tax-deductible financial contribution by mailing a check to the Oklahoma ABLE Tech Reutilization Program office.

Although the AT Act does not include a formal definition of device reutilization programs, the Act describes reutilization programs as programs that provide for the exchange, repair, recycling or other reutilization of assistive technology devices, which may include redistribution through device sales, loans, rentals or donations, carried out either directly or in collaboration with public or private entities (Section 4(e)(2)(B)).

Device REUSE Success Story

Reuse ABC - Amy Rylant website

Free adaptive baby care (ABC) equipment for parents with disabilities or physical limitations is available through Oklahoma ABLE Tech’s Device Exchange Program. This equipment is available for a loan until the family can purchase it (or until it is no longer needed). Amy of Sayre, OK, received a baby care rollator and adapted crib through the program to help her care for her child.

“This crib will assist me in being able to care for my baby, move him, change him, interact with him. I can be an independent mother again and care for my child safely,” Amy said.
